Where to Donate Your De-cluttered Stuff
Whenever we start the process of de-cluttering there is always the question of "what to do with all that stuff"?
Here are some answers.
Whenever you make a donation, remember to get a receipt for tax purposes. Whenever possible, think about selling your stuff... we are, after all, in a recession and every nickel helps.
Goodwill accepts furniture, cars, clothing, books, toys and more. Visit www.locator.goodwill.org to find a location near you.
The Disabled Vietnam Veterans accept clothing, housewares, some furniture. Nothing too big. Neighborhood pick-ups available in some areas. Visit www.vva.org.
The Lupus Foundation accepts clothing, housewares, some furniture. Neighborhood pick-ups available in some areas. Visit www.lupus.org and click on "chapter locator".
Catholic Charities accepts personal care items like blankets, sheets, gloves, shoes and socks. Also some furniture. No clothing. Visit www.catholiccharitiesusa.org for more information.
The Salvation Army accepts clothing and housewares. Visit www.satruck.com to schedule a pick-up.
The Epilepsy Foudations accepts most household items (clothing, shoes, bedding, housewares, toys, games, tools and small appiances) and will often pick-up at your home. Visit www.epilepsyfoundation.org for more information.
If you have business clothing to donate, many local organizations provide low-income folks with gently used attire suitable for interviews adn job hunting. Type "donate business clothing" and your city and state into Google for a list.
Lens Crafters accepts used eye glasses to be given to low income people in need of vision care. Visit www.lenscrafters.com for a location near you.
Consider donating an old care... its a great tax deduction. Try www.donate-car-for-charity.com.
Cell Phones can go to help our troops. Visit www.cellphonesforsoldiers.com to find out how you can help.
If you have a lot of books, try selling most of them to Cash4Books. The process is simple. You type in the ISBN number, they tell you what its worth, you print a free shipping label and drop the books off at either the post office or Fedex. They mail you a check or credit your paypal account.
If you have a dumpster or more you can go to www.1800gotjunk.com. They do all the loading and haul your stuff away. If you need them, you could probably use some coaching services from us. Think about it.
